Who am I?

I grew up in a little town called Price, UT. I started my design journey at CEU, a small community college in my hometown. I learned the core foundations to design and fell in love with the entire process.

Once I graduated with my associate's, I moved to Logan, UT, and started at Utah State University. I was accepted into the BFA program and was part of the first class to graduate from the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State.

I graduated from Utah State I had the opportunity to study design abroad in Switzerland for a summer. There we focused on design thinking and how to implement design thinking into all aspects of life. I can say what I learned here turned me into the designer I am today.

My first official design position was at the College of Agriculture at Utah State in 2011. I helped create assets for some interesting programs like 4-H, Aviation, Equine Sciences, and others.

After two years, I had the opportunity to move to a completely different field. In 2013 I became a senior designer at Nu Skin, A anti-aging and beauty-focused company. I started as the sole designer for the Americas Region. My focus was on printed needs like catalogs, packaging, and signs.

In 2016 I was promoted to Creative Manager. My task was o build a new design team to help us in our digital transformation. I have brought in six designers since then who all have different focused talents. I made the transition from a designer to a creative lead who builds designers.

In 2019 I decided to further my education and pursue my Masters's in UX Design. I was accepted to the Maryland Institute College of Art and started refining my skills. To mine and the world's surprise, Covid-19 came in with a vengeance. Covid-19 put unneeded pressure on everyone and made a master's program even more difficult than it already was. I had to buckle down and focus on the main goal, to graduate. I am pleased to say I received my Master's in December 2020.

During my schooling, I graduated with a 4.0. I was able to compete in an Adobe Jam, my team won first place. MICA reached out and asked me to come back as an adjunct professor and now help lead the final Capstone class.

I am have coming close to 10 years at Nu Skin and looking to grow my leadership skills and improve my design skills. I live, think, and breathe design. I truly believe that design is not just making things pretty. It is a way of thinking. It is improving how everything functions in our lives. Design is central to everything we interact with, from doors to apps, and in ways we don't even notice. Design is life.
